Share A Little LBI With Your Thanksgiving Guests

Being Jersey Shore locals, the LBI Duplex team certainly acknowledges that we’re very lucky to have Long Beach Island – the stunning 18-miles of sandy beaches, quaint small-town feel, and of course the incredible LBI restaurants.

This week, we reached out to LBI restaurants open year round and asked them to share some of their best dishes so you can share a little Long Beach Island with your Thanksgiving guests.

Delaware Avenue Oyster House owner, Toby Sweeney connected us with Chef Steve Haggart and Chef Steve graciously shared his famous “Best Thanksgving Stuffing” recipe so you can bring a little LBI to your Thanksgiving table next week.

Share A Little LBI With Your Thanksgiving Guests 04/12/20241 medium onion chopped fine
6 stalks celery chopped fine
1 stick salted butter
1/2 lb chopped pancetta (6 slices of bacon if you like)
1 loaf of bread rough chopped into cubes (I use a multi grain)
1/4 cup chicken stock
4tbls dried thyme
Pinch of pepper
Salt to taste

In a large pan. Sauté onion and bacon in a small amount of the butter with thyme, salt and pepper until soft. Add celery and chicken stock and cook for 5 or so more minutes. Mix in the bread so all the juices etc have been soaked up. Place all contents of pan into a baking dish, tear chunks of butter and poke into mixture. Cook 375 degrees for 25 mins. Enjoy.

The Delaware Avenue Oyster House is located in the heart of Long Beach Island at 13211 Long Beach Boulevard in Beach Haven, and is open daily at 11:30am. Happy hour runs from 3-6 pm.  Appetizers like Oysters Rockefeller, House Smoked Mahi-Mahi dip, Raw Bar Samplers, and main dishes such as the Village Viking Melt and the Oyster Po’ Boy are just a few of the many delectable eats you will find on their menu. And, the oysters and seafood are caught local and brought to your table daily. The Delaware Avenue Oyster House is one of the many reasons why visitors of Long Beach Island keep coming back every year!
